Ronald Burton Funk Jr
Holstrom, Block and Parke, APLC
Ron Funk, a seasoned attorney of over 25 years, graduated from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1996. His legal journey began with an undergraduate degree in English and a minor in family science, initially unaware of the profound impact this education would have on his trajectory in law.
The dividends of his English degree manifested swiftly, winning him the Best Brief award in the first-year moot court competition. This success continued throughout law school, culminating in the prestigious Jack Welch award in his third year.
Commencing as a law clerk, Ron drafted appellate briefs for a plaintiff’s personal injury firm before transitioning to family law in 2002. He has since served as a handling attorney on numerous published family law cases, contributing significantly to the evolution of family law practices.
Ron holds the distinction of being one of only eight California attorneys with both CFLS (Certified Family Law Specialist) and CALS (Certified Appellate Law Specialist) designations—a testament to his rare expertise. Collaborating closely with the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS), Ron works alongside accomplished attorneys and former judges, reviewing family law appellate opinions. This committee guides decisions on publication, depublication, or California Supreme Court review on behalf of the state’s Certified Family Law Specialists.
Beyond the legal arena, Ron embraces family life with his wife, Tara (Schelin), and their six children in Murrieta. His interests span NFL and college football, reading, music, and travel. Intriguingly, he is involved in ball python breeding and volunteers for the United States Association of Reptile Keepers, showcasing his commitment to professional excellence and community service.
