Claimed Lawyer ProfileQ&A
Biography
A father, husband, son and trial lawyer. A lawyer for the people who has never represented a mega-corporation or insurance company.
I have chosen to devote my life to making sure the most important cases - the peoples' cases - are given a fighting chance in the court of law. We will go to trial if necessary, and only settle if the amount is fair and you approve it.
Your case is important to me, because your case is about you and YOU are important to me. Every case is a cause.

Legal Answers
- Q. Had a motorcycle accident last August because the s.c. state's grass cutters left grass in the road.
- A: In general there are several issues with hospital tests that may make them inadmissible in a civil suit. However, they may also be admissible. I would be glad to take a look at your information, just email me Roy@akimlawfirm.com.
- Q. I believe my mother is being neglected in a physical rehab hospital. Is it legal to record her overnight?
- A: There is nothing prohibiting that if your mother agrees.
- Q. How can I find out if a lawsuit was filed against someone?
- A: It depends on whether or not you know the case would have been filed in state court in South Carolina or Federal Court. Typically, if it is a simple negligence case and all parties live in South Carolina the case would be filed in state court and could be found here by county (https://www.sccourts.org/casesearch/). I would start with the county where the potential Defendant resides, and then the county where the incident occurred if different, then wherever Plaintiff lives and end look in surrounding counties. Federal Court is a bit more complicated as you will need an account, but here is the link to their online system: https://pacer.uscourts.gov.
