- SCOTT AUSTIN is a Florida Bar Board Certified intellectual property attorney representing clients for over 30 years in Florida and around the world in a variety of areas including patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright disputes, arbitration and tech transactions, with insight on both the technical (programming background) and business (two year MBA and business founder) aspects of intellectual property law. As a VLP lawyer Scott is different for another reason. VLP's technology-savvy partnership based in Silicon Valley enables him to be nimble, responsive, personable, and efficient, working closely with many accomplished partners and scalable support across the country, reducing the overhead burdens of bricks and mortar buildings and inter-office politics. As practical problem-solvers we thrive on client service. We will even consult at your office, via Skype or in person. Scott represents clients in trademark appeals, oppositions and cancellation proceedings before the TTAB. IP litigation in U.S. District Courts. Scott has published decisions as a National Arbitration Forum panelist in domain disputes under ICANN’s UDRP process. Scott also has years of counseling experience on advanced technology transactions, SaaS, cloud storage agreements, TOS, DMCA and privacy policy compliance. A former television producer/director and journalist Scott also served as interim in-house counsel for several clients. As their general counsel, he learned to provide senior management with timely answers on which they could firmly rely. Scott has taught intellectual property and corporate law nationally and internationally to law students in law school and practicing lawyers in numerous seminars, workshops and symposia. He chaired the Florida Bar’s Corporations, Securities and Financial Services Committee for two terms and received awards from the Florida Bar for his work on reforms to Florida’s Limited Liability Company Act, which were adopted by the Florida legislature.
