- Q. My apartment is charging me double what I agreed and signed off on in order to break the lease, is this legal?
- A: It would be impossible to answer your question without reviewing your lease. I would suggest contacting an attorney in your area and having them review the lease. In regards to the damages to the property, the landlord would have to make a claim for your security deposit and there is a specific process which they must follow to do this. Again, an experienced lawyer will be able to assist you with this as well.
- Q. We have spent over 5000 dollars to make the property we are renting,is our landlord responsible to reimburse us?
- A: Did the landlord agree (in writing) to reimburse you prior to the repairs being made? What does your lease say regarding repairs? I am unable to answer your question based off of the facts you have submitted. I would suggest having an experienced landlord-tenant attorney review your lease and any other documents that you have that support your claim.
- Q. In the state of Florida, how long does it take to foreclose on a home?
- A: It depends. If the foreclosure is uncontested and there are only a few defendants the process will be a lot quicker than if it's a contested matter. I've seen foreclosure cases resolved in six months and I've seen some take six years. There's no real time frame. I would suggest speaking with a foreclosure attorney in your area, they may be able to give you an estimate based off of the complexities of your case and how quickly the Judges are going through the foreclosure dockets in your area.
