He began his career as assistant general counsel for a real estate development company and related brokerage company, negotiating and drafting construction agreements, financing agreements, and the purchase and sale of real property, as well as defending on construction claims. He also structured and organized entities to hold title and helped obtain financing. Thereafter, he went into private practice. He is also a veteran trial attorney who has also prosecuted and defended major cases involving construction defects, breach of contract, partnership disputes and breach of fiduciary duty. He has been involved in real estate work-outs both privately and working through the bankruptcy courts. Committed to helping start-up companies, Mr. Kerekes has been involved with a number of start-ups that have needed advice in the various aspects of setting up and running a new business, including capital formation, employment agreements, profit-sharing plans, as well as protecting confidential trade secrets and intellectual property. Mr. Kerekes is licensed to practice before all California courts, state and local, as well as the federal courts in the Central District, Southern District, and Eastern District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal.
