Susan Ingram Mediation & Coaching
The theme of meaningful and constructive communication informs all of my work. Throughout my career, I've been concerned with facilitating communication, whether it be one-on-one or in groups actively listening to others, collaborating with them and building consensus.
Before becoming a mediator and coach, I held several high-level positions in corporate legal departments and also had my own law practice. All of my work revolved around the negotiation and drafting of agreements and required excellent problem-solving and collaborative skills.
For many years, I've also been an advocate for children with disabilities. My interest and commitment in this area evolved from the issues I had to address while raising my son, who is dyslexic and has Type 1 diabetes. I am currently the President of the Learning Disabilities Association of NYC and am co-founder of the Parents Diabetes Network of NYC.
In recent years, I've chosen to focus my professional endeavors on mediation and coaching because of the potential it affords for helping people to make constructive change in their lives. I consider my most successful mediations to be those in which the parties learn to communicate not only by understanding their own needs, but also those of the other party.
In my work as a business, career and life coach, I enjoy guiding and encouraging my clients to achieve their goals. Through personal insights and specific strategies they develop while coaching, clients significantly improve their performance and quality of life.
I am certified as a coach by the International Coach Federation. Additionally, I am certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), a widely used assessment for understanding personality traits, and the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI), a tool for understanding conflict-handling modes.
I am licensed to practice law in New York State and received my Juris Doctor degree from St. John's University School of Law in New York. I attended New York University as an undergraduate and received a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature. I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy traveling and meeting people from diverse cultures.
