Georgia employment and overtime attorney, Thomas F. Martin, grew up in Queens, New York playing basketball at LaSalle Academy against the likes of Lew Alcindor, prior to being highly recruited to play basketball for the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. Upon graduation from the Naval Academy, Tom served in Vietnam for a year on river patrol boats on the rivers and canals of the Mekong Delta. After active duty, Tom obtained his MBA and began a very successful health care career as a senior executive of several hospital corporations that lasted for 28 years and provided him with a wealth of experience in a wide variety of management and senior administrative and executive roles.
Upon retiring from his health care career, Tom attended and graduated from Case Western Reserve Law School and thereafter, co-founded Martin & Martin focusing on passionately representing employees and a select number of small businesses in all areas of employment and wage & hour laws. Tom has successfully represented hundreds of employees in overtime cases including collective/class actions on the basis of unpaid overtime, illegal tip pools, unpaid wait & travel time, unpaid on-call time, and the use of automatic deductions for meal breaks. Tom has also respresented workers who were misclassified as independent contractors and not paid minimum and overtime wages.
Additionally, Tom represents employees in all types of employment discrimination and retaliation matters. In 2016, he, along with his partner, Kimberly Martin, obtained the second highest sexual harassment verdict of the year in Georgia in a sexual harassment and retaliation case.
Tom also represents a select number of small businesses in all areas of contracts, employment, and wage & hour laws. He represents his clients in litigation, arbitration, at the DOL and EEOC, as well as works as "in-house counsel" for his small business clients allowing them to contact him anytime a potential matter arises.
