- A: I hope you didn't answer any questions. My advice would be to request a continuance until after the other cases are resolved. If you run out of continuances, set it for jury trial. Or ask the prosecutor if you can take an alcohol awareness class in exchange for a dismissal.

- A: As long as you told the truth, he doesn't have a claim against you for defamation. However, there doesn't appear to be anything illegal in what he did either.
- Q. How can my cousin avoid jail time after failing a UA on probation in Texas?
- A: I hope his monday meeting with his probation officer went well.
There's no single, sure-fire, guaranteed way to avoid jail time. However, he can increase his chances by having a real desire to get clean, and demonstrate that by actions. He'll need to show his probation officer that he's serious about getting clean. One way to do that is when he talks to his officer next time, he can ask if there's an option for rehab, outpatient or inpatient. He would need to let his probation officer know that he wants to get clean and he's willing to go to rehab. And then he'd need to go to rehab.
