William F. McGee Jr.
Criminal defense attorney with 30 years of experience
In the legal community longevity matters. William F. McGee Jr. is a third generation attorney at McGee Law Office founded in the 1920's by his grandfather. His office has provided legal services for clients throughout Western Kentucky including McCracken, Livingston, Crittenden, Lyon, Caldwell, Marshall, and Ballard Counties for almost 100 years. As a lawyer, Mr. McGee has earned the coveted, AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. In his 32 years as an attorney, Mr. McGee has found success defending clients in criminal cases highly publicized by newspapers and television. Specifically, he has secured “NOT GUILTY” verdicts for clients charged with FIRST-DEGREE MURDER, DRUG OFFENSES, ASSAULTS, SEX OFFENSES, DUIs, and many other crimes. Other clients have benefitted from his experience by having charges “DISMISSED” for FIRST-DEGREE MURDER, MANSLAUGHTER, ATTEMPTED MURDER, DRUG TRAFFICKING, DRUG POSSESSION, SEX OFFENSES, ASSAULT, WANTON ENDANGERMENT, NEGLECT, BURGLARY, FELONY FIREARM POSSESSION, DUI, EPO/DVO VIOLATIONS, TERRORISTIC THREATENING, MENACING, and several others.
Beyond criminal defense, Mr. McGee has successfully represented clients in cases involving (1) a contentious, multi-million dollar divorce, (2) a multi-million dollar negotiated agreement, and (3) a million dollar plus will contest. His clients have secured law-changing, published decisions by the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Supreme Court in cases such as murder (McCracken Co.), an unconstitutional drug search (McCracken Co.), a multi-million dollar divorce (McCracken Co.), a wrongful death from a car accident (Livingston Co.); etc. Lastly, he is one of the few attorneys in Kentucky that has found success in a drug trafficking case with the United States Supreme Court by arguing against a writ of certiorari pursued by Ky.'s Attorney General.

- Published Appellate Court Case Commonwealth of Kentucky v. McManus *Mr. McGee challenged the Commonwealth's search of his client's residence in a highly publicized drug case in McCracken County. Mr. McGee's challenge went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, where the Court ruled for Mr. McGee and his client. The win allowed Mr. McGee to get evidence gathered against his client to be declared inadmissible, thus allowing his client to go free. This case modified the law in Kentucky and is now used by other attorneys in defending clients against unlawful searches.
