Alex Roshuk
Alex T. Roshuk is a New York State attorney. He has two law degrees from McGill University, Faculty of Law, Montreal, Canada (B.C.L./LL.B., 1997) and has been practicing law in New York City since 1998 advising businesses, individuals and not-for-profit organizations in transactional and litigation related matters. He was the first legal advisor to the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. (Wikipedia) from 2003 to 2005 assisting with the organization's tax exempt application to the IRS, trademark applications, and various copyright related issues. Mr. Roshuk is also engaged in a variety of pro bono and public service activities, since 2005 he has been serving as an arbitrator in the Small Claims Part of New York City Civil Court, Kings County. He has also served as a moot court judge for New York University's Third (2008) and Fourth (2009) Annual Immigration Law Moot Court Competition. He was elected a member of the Executive Committee of the Second Life Bar Association in 2006-7 and taught an accredited CLE course in Second Life on Internet Fraud.
Prior to becoming a lawyer Mr. Roshuk worked in the entertainment industry as a film editor, radio announcer, television producer, director and video artist as well as an administrator and/or director of numerous not-for-profit media arts organizations in the United States and Canada. His film and video work has been shown in galleries, at museums and in festivals throughout the world. Notably, as an arts administrator and artist, he was one of the founders of the Standby Program. He studied electrical engineering and film criticism at Princeton University in the 1970s. He currently lives and works in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
