Q. I am trying to find out what a one-way contact order

A: Typically, this creates an avenue for a respondent (person who has been served the injunction) to communicate with a a petitioner (person seeking the injunction) for limited purposes. Unless you filed an injunction back at them, the contact order is already one-way (The petitioner is not legally barred from making contact with you; the injunction only legally bars you from making contact with them). If the person wanted peaceful contact or contact for any reason, they would typically withdraw the injunction rather than keep it in place with some avenue for limited communication.

Usually the limited communication is for child-raising needs, property distribution needs, and the communication would be limited strictly to the subject that is approved. Courts can provide third-party software and apps to accommodate these communications and they are reviewable by a Court to ensure the communications are about the appropriate subject and are peaceful in nature.
