Daniel Griffin
Dan Griffin was born and raised in West Warwick, Rhode Island. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Dan served four years of active duty including a tour as a Marine Rifleman with the 7 th Marine Infantry Regiment during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. For his service in Iraq, Dan received numerous awards and citations including the Iraqi Campaign Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon for service under enemy fire during the march to Baghdad and further operations in central Iraq.
As a proud war veteran, Dan has as interest in promoting and helping the causes of those who served and sacrificed. He is a member the American Legion Post 2 and the V.F.W. Post 449, both in West Warwick. Dan is also a member of the Kent County Marine Corps League
Legal Background
Upon discharge from the Marines, Dan returned to Rhode Island, and with the help of the GI Bill, he completed college and law school. After graduating from law school, Dan was selected to serve as a law clerk to the Justices of the Superior Court in Providence County where he helped draft decisions and legal opinions in the areas of criminal law, complex personal injury litigation, and zoning ordinances. Dan was also specifically assigned to the Chief Magistrate of the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal, where he assisted in drafting appellate decisions regarding DUI/Refusal cases.
In 2011, Dan accepted an offer from the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General. As a prosecutor, Dan was assigned a wide range of criminal matters from juvenile matters to murder investigations. He excelled as a trial attorney and obtained guilty verdicts in a number of difficult cases including those for First Degree Robbery, First Degree Child
