Garrett Barten
Garrett Barten is a Registered Patent Attorney who is licensed to practice law in Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania. He holds an AV (Preeminent) peer rating by Martindale-Hubbell, a rating of “Superb” by AVVO, and has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” for five consecutive years. He devotes his practice to intellectual property acquisition and litigation in matters such as patent, trademark, and copyright disputes in Federal Court, as well as cancellation and opposition proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board. Mr. Barten also has years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the medical device, life science, and mechanical areas.
Mr. Barten holds a J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the University of Miami School of Law, where he served as an Articles & Comments Editor of the Business Law Review and authored an article entitled Permanent Injunctions: A Discretionary Remedy For Patent Infringement in the Aftermath of the eBay Decision, 16 U. Miami Bus. L. Rev. 1 (2007).
Mr. Barten also holds a B.S. in Biological and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University, as well as an M. Eng. in Biological Engineering, also from Cornell, where he was the Head Teaching Assistant for Bioengineering Thermodynamics and Enzyme Kinetics, and a member of Alpha Epsilon, the Honor Society of Agricultural, Food, and Biological Engineering.
Mr. Barten is a Committee Member of the International Trademark Association’s Internet Committee and Subcommittee on Subsequent Rounds New gTLD Applications.
