James R Howison
Born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, I am a graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville (1998) and the Samford University Cumberland School of Law (2002). I am licensed to practice law in the State of Alabama and have been admitted before the Federal District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama.
From an early age, I learned that the most powerful skill that can be mastered is the ability to change someone’s mind… which is why I became a lawyer. The most rewarding part of my job is advocating for those in need and using the art of persuasion to see the burden of worry and confusion lifted from the shoulders of clients.
For years I worked in the area of collections and Plaintiffs law throughout North Alabama, and then for the United Auto Workers Legal Services Plan, in the areas of collection defense and consumer bankruptcy. Because I have more than 17 years of experience in the areas of Consumer Bankruptcy, Real Estate, and Civil Litigation, I have a breadth of experience and state-wide practice that provides me with a unique perspective when assisting clients with bankruptcy and collection related issues.
My extensive experience in nearly every aspect of the real estate market includes estate planning and administration; boundary line disputes; contract drafting; litigation and real estate closings. I understand that real estate deals, as well as real estate disputes, are made or lost in the contract preparation. Whether buying or selling property or prosecuting or defending claims to real property I have experience representing clients in every phase of life. Whether you are investing in real estate for the first time, or you are ready to retire, I can assist with incorporation and formation of limited liability companies; custom contract drafting and review; breach of contract litigation, or petitions for sale for division.
I am a life-long student and am always eager to learn.
