He attended Titusville High School and graduated in 1996. Jason graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando in 2002 where he graduated with Honors as a History major. Jason then attended the Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, earning a Jurisdoctorate degree in 2007. Like many young lawyers, Jason went on to the State Attorney's Office as a prosecutor with hopes of getting substantial trial experience. For him, this plan was a success. Jason had the opportunity to tackle many facets of the litigation experience; he has trial experience that many criminal defense attorneys in private practice take a decade to accomplish. In 2009, Jason was nominated and selected by the Brevard County Bar Association for the Judge T. Mitchell Barlow Award. This award is given annually to only one young lawyer among all attorneys in Brevard County. This award signifies that the recipient has maintained and is being recognized for the pursuit of the highest ideals and tenets of the legal profession: character, competence, and commitment.
