John Nisbett
Heilman Law GroupThe focus of my practice is general litigation, and our firm regularly handles matters in a variety of areas. In particular, I enjoy practicing in the contexts of personal injury, insurance bad faith, and commercial/business litigation. We also regularly litigate in the fields of healthcare law (including medical malpractice, False Claims Act litigation, and Medicare/Medicaid audit defense) and labor/employment (wrongful termination, noncompete cases, disputes arising from the breach of employment contracts, and discrimination). I also enjoy appellate practice and am fortunate to be part of a group with representations involving traditional appeals to both the Mississippi Supreme Court and the Mississippi Court of Appeals as well as to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. We are comfortable litigating in a wide spectrum of environments, with recent or ongoing representations in many Mississippi state courts, all Mississippi federal district courts, Mississippi federal bankruptcy courts, and federal district courts in Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama.
