I am an experienced litigator, having devoted my practice to family law for the last thirty-five years. Earlier in my career I focused on criminal defense, including organized crime cases. Legal Answers
Q. Do I have to have money up front to start my divorce process cause he will not let me have any access to any money
A: Good Afternoon,

Please be advised the name of the firm has changed to ANDREA HECKMAN LAW and Mr. Delaney no longer works with us. He has retired. Mrs. Heckman's firm received your inquiry. Please feel free to email, call the firm's cell # 847-271-7807, or text your available dates and times. We do offer a free consultation. She will be happy to assist you. Yes, the retainer fee must be paid before her firm starts work on your case. However, if it is uncontested divorce we do take partial payment prior to filing the divorce and the second half before the actual divorce date. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Q. I need help trying to get a divorce . I have a 9 yr old son an a house under mine and husbands name.
A: Your case is a contested case, and my firm, like most family law firms, will charge by the hour with a "retainer", that is, a down payment.

The only way your husband (and you) will sign settlement papers if you and he come to an agreement. Otherwise, the judge will make the decisions.

For advice relevant to your case, you should consult with a family law attorney so you both can thoroughly review the facts of your case.
Q. My spouse filed for divorce without telling me, he got my stimulus check and refused to give it to me. What do I do?
A: Morning, please contact our office to set up a 30-minute free consultation.

Our # is 847-705-8000.
