Melody Jo King
Paving A Path Forward
Melody J. King is an experienced litigator and negotiator in Family Law where she focuses her practice on child custody and child support, spousal support, equitable distribution (property division), and divorce. In addition to litigation, Melody has significant experience in the drafting of premarital and postmarital agreements, as well as Separation and Property Settlement Agreements. Coming from a large law firm, Melody decided to open her own firm exclusively practicing in the area of family law. Melody works closely with clients to determine their specific needs and goals and to make difficult family law cases manageable for her clients, with each individual client receiving a tailored plan for their case. Whether the case will be settled in mediation or litigated at a hearing, Melody makes sure her clients are ready for the challenges they will face.
Melody has received high level training in family law trial advocacy and litigation through the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. This intensive training focuses on child custody and child support matters, as well as situations involving complex equitable distribution, with a focus on valuation and distribution of businesses and examining expert witnesses for advanced equitable distribution and child custody cases.
Melody attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law and is fully licensed to practice in North Carolina and Florida. Melody currently serves as the President of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, Western North Carolina Chapter, and is member of the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. She is also a volunteer lawyer for Pisgah Legal Services.
Melody handles cases in Asheville, Hendersonville, Waynesville, Madison County, and many surrounding areas in Western North Carolina.
