Michael Christopher Payne

My practice focuses on representing financial institutions, private lenders, businesses and individuals in complex commercial real estate and financing transactions. Mike also assists his clients with the establishment and enforcement of creditors’ rights.

I was named a Super Lawyer by Colorado Super Lawyers Magazine each year between 2020 and 2024. I have also been also been recognized by my peers as one of the Best Lawyers in America in Banking and Finance Law. Additionally, I have been rated as an AV Preeminent lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell’s Peer Review Ratings, indicating that I have been recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity.

I am a member of the Colorado Bar Association (including the Business and Real Estate Sections), the Larimer County Bar Association and the Weld County Bar Association. I am admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

I formerly served on the Real Estate Section Council of the Colorado Bar Association, and as an officer of the Business Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association. I am a former Chair of the Board of Directors for the Weld Community Foundation, and currently sit on the Board of Directors for the UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation.

I am a proud two-time graduate of the University of Kansas, having obtained both my B.A. and J.D. from that institution. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
