Michael Smith
The Health Law FirmMichael L. Smith is board certified in health law by The Florida Bar. He represents physicians and other health care providers in business, corporate, transactional, regulatory and administrative health law matters. His practice includes the defense of professional licenses, defense of Medicare and Medicaid audits and investigations, preparation and negotiation of contracts, representation in the sale or purchase of physician practices, legal opinions on complex health care transactions, and a myriad of other health care legal issues. His clients include physicians, nurses, dentists, independent diagnostic testing facilities (IDTFs), durable medical equipment (DME) companies, home health agencies, temporary nursing agencies, nursing homes, medical staffing companies, medical clinics, and other health care providers. Mr. Smith previously worked as a litigation attorney in a large insurance defense firm in Tampa. Mr. Smith has been a registered respiratory therapist since 1981, and still maintains an active license in Florida as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Mr. Smith served on the Board of Directors for the Mental Health Association of Central Florida, Inc., from 2003 through 2009, and the Executive Committee from 2006 through 2009.
