Biography

My practice is a holistic one. Rockaway is a small exurban town. As such, a certain neighborly attitude is required which includes pro bono work, volunteerism and maintaining ones reputation as a fair, just, and equitable advocate among clients and the community. There is also time to play and enjoy doing things that are of interest. I volunteer in a local soup kitchen, shoot skeet (but not hunt), and study Americana. I especially enjoy my six grandchildren who reside nearby. I am a graduate of Boston Latin ('60), Boston University ('64), Rutgers Law School ('67), and studied ASL (American Sign Language) and Deaf culture at Union County College.

Q. Landlord selling the house. The new owners want the whole house. Do I have to move under the covid relief thats in order
A: If you have a written lease, you may remain in the residence until the maturity date stated in the lease. If you are a tenant for a term up to a year. You may remain the premises until the renewal date. If you are month to month, the owner may obtain possession if the landlord follows statutory requirements. Covid19 may limit the right of the owner to proceed with a legal action to evict you.
Q. Landlord never signed lease. We were never late. He sold house. Wants us out. What are our rights?
A: The landlord may sell the property but the buyer's purchase is subject to whatever rigjts you have as a tenant. Furthermore every lease in NJ whether written or oral is deemed to have included the provision of quiet enjoyment. So whatever conditions are included in your lease must be honored by a subsequent purchaser.

A: Retain an attorney to represent you both with demanding documentation, proof that dealer forwarded premium to the carrier, and to determine whether dealer is an unlicensed vendor of insurance.
