Biography

I graduated from Winthrop High School in the top 10 of my class, being inducted into the National Honor Society. During my high school tenure I participated in Varsity Cheerleading, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Softball and Track. I attended Louisiana State University, obtaining my Bachelor's degree in 3 1/2 years. I am licensed in Louisiana and Florida. I have been practicing law for 18 years. For 14 of those, my husband, Chris Ferry has been my law partner. I encourage clients to settle so that they have the ability to make the decisions regarding their lives instead of a Judge; however , when that is not possible, I embrace the litigation side of being an attorney. I have several trials per year. In doing family law, I do my best to answer questions and alleviate the fears my clients may have during their case. Our staff and myself are responsive to client's needs.

Legal Answers
Q. I live in florida and my husband and I are separated. I refianced my home and paid him so he could buy another property.
A: Any property bought during the marriage with marital funds (i.e., your salary or savings) is a marital asset. You are entitled to his house equity and vice versa. Florida does not have legal separation; hence the marriage is defined in length by the date of marriage until the date of filing the dissolution.
Q. my Divorce way final in 2010. But her lawyer has not filed the QRDO and I am not able to get my pension. What can I do
A: I would suggest hiring a QDRO specialist. They charge around $500 to do it. It could save you the headache of waiting.
Q. In Florida in alimony court if I worked for 30 years at my parents business making 80k and they decide to close
A: If you are paying alimony a court will look at whether a substantial change has occurred. The change must be permanent and involuntary. I would say yes, that could be basis to reduce your alimony payment. The court will look however to your former spouse's needs and how the reduction will impact him/her. Every case is fact specific.
