Peter Michael, Esq., is the Founding Partner at Peter Michael Law, LLC., who focuses his practice primarily on Personal Injury litigation, Criminal Defense, Traffic & Municipal Court matters, and Real Estate Transactions.
Mr. Michael strives in his practice to provide vigorous and efficient representation tailored to each client’s particular needs and goals. Prior to forming Beralo and Michael, Mr. Michael worked extensively on various civil litigation matters, including Landlord-Tenant issues, commercial litigation, and workers compensation matters for two mid-size New Jersey Law Firms. As a member of Beralo & Michael, Mr. Michael appears regularly within the Superior Court and Municipal Court within Jersey City, Hudson County, and all of North and Central New Jersey.
Mr. Michael has previously severed on the Rutgers Community & Transactional Lawyering Clinic, where he incorporated various non-profit corporations, including advising and representing the Clinics second ever filing of a B-Corporation.
Mr. Michael earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science with a minor in Economics from Rutgers University – Newark in 2014, and his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers Law School in 2017. He is also an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Association.

- Q. Due to the pandemic we cancelled our summer rental in OC NJ. Owner refuses to refund deposit. Berger realty no help. ?

- Q. Tenant wants to pay only half month of tent because he is moving out in the middle of month. Is this allowed under COVID
- A: Under executive order 128, a tenant can use their security deposit to pay rent, so that may be an option to offer your tenants. Furthermore, if a tenant leaves with a balance, you may deduct that balance from the tenants security deposit. But it is CRUCIAL to send your tenant a security deposit return notice which states the amount of their security deposit and what is being deducted and for what cause.
So be sure to gain your tenants new address so you can send them the notice and the remaining balance of their security deposit.
