Richard T. West
Richard T. West has been practicing law for over forty-one years. He has been a shareholder of Meyer Capel for over half of his career, having practiced in other firms in the community prior to joining Meyer Capel in 1991 as a shareholder. Throughout much of his career, his focus has been in the areas of complex litigation involving, for example, intellectual property, construction, banking, products liability, contract disputes and corporate and fiduciary obligations, as well as business representation, construction law, and health care law. In recent years, he has begun to shift his focus from an active litigation practice to one more devoted to using his experience to assist other firm litigators, while at the same time working with business, construction and health care clients to advance their interests and avoid, where possible, situations that may create potential litigation.
Experience has provided him with a wealth of knowledge that enables him to lend counsel to client situations of almost any nature. He is frequently consulted by fellow firm attorneys about issues running the gamut from business transactions, to intellectual property issues, to contract structure and interpretation, to insurance coverage matters, to construction contractor issues, among others. In each instance, over forty years of business and litigation experience come into play.
He has observed that what distinguishes Meyer Capel is its capacity and determination to address client matters timely, efficiently, economically and with a common sense approach. That philosophy is put into practice by the entire staff of Meyer Capel. The object is to fulfill the clients’ needs quickly, effectively and at reasonable costs.
