- Q. Can I switch law firms for better compensation from Uber after they stopped communicating?
- A: Before you change anything, you need to have a face to face with your current attorney. There is no reason you cannot pursue therapy or any other treatment while the demand process is ongoing. As far as Uber accepting responsibility, double check on that with your attorney on that. That is somewhat unusual at the stage your case is now.
Once a demand is sent, the insurance company either decides to negotiate or, if the potential settlement numbers are too low, you will have to file suit. You need some clear answers in person from your attorney. Do that before you contemplate hiring a new attorney.
Good Luck.
- Q. Am I liable if an illegal occupant causes harm on my property in Florida?
- A: Absolutely. Without more information, I cannot comment on why you were somehow "unsuccessful" in your previous attempt to evict whomever is on your property....please find a competent landlord- tenant attorney to advise you how to proceed. I assume the individual is operating a business on your property. While I assume that if they were previously there lawfully they were required by the lease to maintain liability insurance, you need to have liability coverage as the landowner at this point since the "squatter" may not have such coverage. My advice, proceed with eviction proceedings without haste.
- Q. My daughter's boyfriend traded her car without her knowledge and took the upgraded car in his name without reimbursement. What legal action can she take in Florida?
- A: I guess the real "surprise" was when the now ex-boyfriend drove off with the car he had ostensibly bought for your daughter. You question has many issues, but at its core, if the boyfriend used the car belonging to your daughter as partial payment for the new car, he is most likely guilty of forging her signature on the Transfer of Title....in addition, while he did "give" the car to your daughter, it was registered in his name. As a result he is guilty of Conversion or Grand Theft. I find it hard to believe this transaction was done with no paperwork.
Have the police been notified? Have you contacted the dealership where he purchased the car? I advise you that it is ... Read More
