Robert Eugene Stone
Admitted to practice in 1964, Robert Stone has accomplished a vast array of achievements throughout his 50 plus years as a Vero Beach Criminal Defense Attorney. Mr. Stone was the City Prosecutor for the city of Fort Pierce, and an assistant public defender. In 1972, he was the first elected full time State Attorney of the 19th Judicial Circuit, and ran the additional times unopposed. As State Attorney, Robert Stone served on the probation parole nominating committee, was the legal advisor to the 5th and 6th Statewide Grand Juries, served on both Governor Graham and Governor Askew’s Organized Crime Council, was twice elected as President for the Florida Prosecuting Attorney’s Association, and was the Statewide Speaker for both Governor Graham and Governor Askew in opposition of cocaine trafficking and organized gambling. As State Attorney, Mr. Stone also tried numerous Capitol Murder cases including two major serial killers. As President of the Florida Prosecuting Attorney’s, Mr. Stone was commended by both Governor Askew and Graham for getting several major criminal justice laws enacted. These laws include Use Immunity, the Good Faith Exception to the Exclusionary Rule and Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization (RICO). In fact, Mr. Stone was so instrumental in the passing of the RICO bill that he was invited to the signing by Governor Askew where he, along with Senator Ed Dunn, was the only other people present. Mr. Stone focuses his area of practice in State and Federal Criminal Law, Family law, and civil litigation.
