Ruth Shapiro
My trial practice is primarily focused on personal injury defense and employment matters. I defend catastrophic injury, wrongful death, premises liability, employment, and product liability cases. I have numerous defense jury verdicts in a variety of cases.
In my 30 years of practice, I have averaged two trials per year. In the past four years alone, I have obtained defense jury verdicts in matters involving a double fatality from a truck accident (with a $22 million demand), a fatality from use of farm equipment (with a $3 million demand), a $2.8 million catastrophic injury case, an employment contract dispute, premises liability, employment discrimination, and a snow tubing, skier-collision.
I have practiced with law firms in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin. I also served as in-house counsel for a large liability insurance carrier’s third-party administrator. Prior to attending law school, I played professional tennis, traveling throughout North America to compete. I currently serve on USA Cycling’s Safety Advisory Committee. I also participate in local, regional, and national road cycling events with a regional cycling team.
