Susan Fremit
Experienced and aggressive representation yields positive resultsBorn in Britain, Susan F. Fremit emigrated to Canada when she was a young child. As a teenager, she completed her secondary school education while traveling between England, Portugal and Spain. Through being very involved with every community she lived, Susan encountered diverse European and Canadian cultures, which lead to her passion for justice and an interest in law. In 1991, the Law Firm of Susan F. Fremit was established to represent clients charged with criminal defense, DUI and serious traffic offenses in Windsor and Essex County, in Ontario, Canada. Over the course of a decade, Susan represented over 1,000 clients in a variety of criminal, DUI, and traffic charges. With a large majority of cases going to trial, Susan obtained significant experience in winning cases through trial preparation and research, developing arguments, acquiring expert witnesses, and discrediting Crown arguments as well as police and witness testimony. In 2008, the Law Firm of Susan F. Fremit, P.C. was established in Arlington, Virginia to provide a decade of Canadian legal expertise and trial experience to clients charged with criminal, DUI and traffic offenses in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, and Falls Church, Virginia. The following year, Susan received her admittance to the United States District Court Eastern District of Virginia (4th Circuit Court). In 2012, the Law Firm of Susan F. Fremit, P.C. opened another office to offer the combination of experience, aggressive representation and a proven track record across a broad range of criminal, DUI and traffic offenses to clients charged in Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Louisa, Spotsylvania, and Stafford, Virginia. In 2016, the Law Firm of Susan F. Fremit opened a third location in Bowling Green to represent those charged with crimes in and around Caroline County.

- Q. 8 years ago, released from Tennessee without home plan or transfer of custody. Has been non-extraditable. Arrested now
- A: It appears that Tennessee issued a warrant of extradition for a misdemeanor which is usually non-etraditable and the VA State police were simply following up that. You may want to ask your former Tennessee attorney for advice on what is going on there. Also advise that attorney that you want to please not guilty to reckless endangerment of a minor (which is a felony criminal offense, not an "infraction".) If you cannot afford an attorney, you will be appointed one by the court. This is not the type offense you want to represent yourself.
- Q. I have arraignment coming up and I will be out of state can I write letter to judge with not guilty plea in my absence?
- A: Call the Court clerk of the county court where you must appear to find out what the Court's pony may be. It will depend on the type of charge whether you will be able to avoid being issued a capias (bench warrant) for failing to appear on your arraignment date.
- Q. If you violate the terms of the a 251 disposition what will happen
- A: There is usually a "fail out" sentence which is a period of active time in prison. Speak to your attorney about this.
