Claimed Lawyer Profile
Summary

David Hodges, founding partner at Kennedy Hodges, LLP, was born in McAllen, Texas, and moved to Cypress when he was seven. He attended Cy-Fair Senior High School, and discovered he wanted to go to law school after participating in a mock trial in his senior government class.

After graduation, he joined the Corps of Cadets and attended Texas A&M University where he earned his B.S. degree in 1989. After graduating from Texas A&M University, he was immediately commissioned in the Navy and deployed to the Persian Gulf. During Desert Storm, he often worked 20 hour days as an Aviation Intelligence Officer, but would find a few minutes each day to read law school guides. His interest and passion for the law grew daily. When he transferred from active duty to the Navy Reserves, he was able to take that passion to the University of Houston Law Center.

During his time at the University of Houston, Mr. Hodges won the Team Champion award in the Hippard Mock Trial Tournament. He then joined the mock trial team, where he competed in Nationals for two years. While in law school, he also served as a reserve intelligence officer, an editor of the Houston Journal of International Law, a member of the National Order of the Barristers, and the Chief Baron of the law school's honor society. He graduated cum laude in 1996 with his J.D.

Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Hodges worked for several defense firms before deciding he would rather represent victims instead of the victimizers. In 2001, he founded Kennedy Hodges, LLP, with his best friend from law school, Galvin Kennedy.

Mr. Hodges has been Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2004--a certification achieved by less than 3% of attorneys in Texas. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocate Forum, a prestigious group of attorneys who have obtained verdicts or settlements larger than $1 million. In addition, Mr. Hodges was named a Texas Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 and is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings—an objective peer review designed to rate lawyers on ethics and professional ability. He was also listed as a Top Lawyer and a Professional on the Fast Track in 2005 and 2006 by H Texas Magazine and has been interviewed by both local and national news organizations over the years.

Mr. Hodges has actively served on various Houston Bar Association, Houston Trial Lawyers Association and Texas Trial Lawyers Association committees. He has also worked on legislative efforts to protect the rights of Texans. He is currently serving as the Panel Chair for the District 4A Grievance Committee, where he hears and rules on complaints filed against attorneys.

Mr. Hodges is admitted to practice before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
