Douglas J. Wells
Stamford Superior CourtMy extensive legal experience provides immeasurable benefits to my clients. I go into each divorce or family law case with a valuable understanding of the various challenges. I can assist you in finding solutions to your child custody and child support needs, as well as property distribution and alimony matters. I also represent people who need to modify or enforce the terms of their divorce decree. I also understand that a divorce or family law issue can lead to extreme emotional turmoil. As a result, I will work closely with you, compassionately helping you understand the various legal issues in your case and empowering you to make sound decisions. I defend adults and juveniles against all types of criminal charges, including drunk driving and other motor vehicle offenses, as well as drug charges and domestic violence charges. I also have meaningful experience representing commercial truck drivers against all types of CDL and moving violations. Whatever charges you face, I will closely examine the evidence and develop all possible defenses. My tough, dynamic approach has led to favorable outcomes, such as dismissals, acquittals at trial and favorable plea agreements for many of my clients. Whether you need help with a family law issue or require a strong criminal defense, I am trained to help you protect your rights and to achieve what is most important to you. Prior to entering private practice, I served as a prosecutor in the District Attorney's Office of Suffolk County and Plymouth County, Massachusetts. During that time I took more than 100 cases to trial. This experience, combined with my family law trial experience, gives me a solid background. My commitment to my clients is matched by my commitment to my community. I live and work in Greenwich and I am an active member of the community. For example, I serve as Chairman of the Legislative and Rules Committee of the Representative Town Meeting, and am President of the Indian Harbor District.
