Claimed Lawyer ProfileQ&A
Biography

Morris earned his Juris Doctorate at Georgia State University's College of Law in 2013 and his Bachelor of Science in International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2006. After completing his undergraduate degree, Morris considered a career in academic philosophy. This plan changed after Morris completed the "Philosophy of Law" course at Georgia State University, when he realized that while philosophers typically end their discussions with journal entries, jurists end theirs with court orders backed by the power of the state.

Morris has wide-ranging litigation experience, including family law, criminal defense, and personal injury casework, with an overwhelmingly successful track record. He is a graduate of the Bill Daniel Trial Advocacy program, an intensive series of training courses led by the best criminal defense attorneys in the state, and he has specialized negotiation training from Georgia State University.

Legal Answers
Q. I was pulled over with my boyfriend and there was drugs in the car we both went to jail I bonded out will I go to prison
A: If this is your first offense, you are likely not facing prison time, unless there are other aggravating circumstances, such as weapons or significant quantities of the drugs. If you do have some criminal history, the answer will turn on the details of that history - what your past charges were, how long ago they occurred, etc. It is possible that the DA's office tries to scare you with a stiff penalty unless you cooperate as a witness against your boyfriend, which can go sideways in a number of ways. Regardless, of course you should absolutely retain a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.
Q. how many working lights do you need to on your vehicle?
A: Assuming you were not driving a motorcycle, you need at least two working headlights (OCGA 40-8-22) and two working taillights (OCGA 40-8-23). By driving your vehicle on the roads in violation of these statutes, you are subject to prosecution as a misdemeanor criminal defendant (OCGA 40-8-7). Anyone who drives their vehicle, particularly at night, without all four corners lit up is pretty much asking to be pulled over. Whether this type of charge can ultimately be proven beyond a reasonable doubt (that you knew the lights were out, for example) is another matter.
Q. My s/o was picked up on a false warrant ,never had his Miranda rights read to him until after speaking with the d.a
A: He needs to act fast to get Habeas Corpus relief. If he can get out of custody, he will be in a much better position to pursue his other claims involving this experience.
