Scott Deatherage
Environmental, Energy, and Blockchain. S Deatherage Law, PLLC
Scott’s experience as an attorney over the last 30 years has evolved from primarily focusing on environmental issues to expanding to energy, water, and climate change. As a partner in large law firms, he has worked with clients to solve regulatory challenges in transactions, solid and hazardous waste, air emissions, wastewater, soil and groundwater contamination, federal and state Superfund matters, and generally in advising management and directors in environmental strategy, corporate governance, and financial disclosure.
Scott has advised clients in creative ways to capitalize on emerging technology such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy storage, as well as representing clean tech and environmental technology companies. He has worked on projects from natural gas, biofuels, gas to liquid, wind, solar, and other renewable energy projects, including siting and permits, incentives, power purchase agreements, EPC contracts, and interconnection issues. He recently has become involved in working with companies on blockchain and energy.
Over the last 10 years, Scott has worked with clients on more than $5 billion in energy projects. These projects range from utility scale solar, wind, and natural gas fired power plants. Scott has negotiated over 15 ground leases for solar farms, and he has developed contracts for companies installing energy efficiency equipment and batteries to reduce client energy use and to allow them to participate in demand response programs and other grid services.
As both a lawyer and an entrepreneur himself, he brings a unique set of knowledge, expertise, experience, and judgment to energy projects and technology.
