Teresa Lynn De Ford
Helping women navigate the divorce process to create a new normal for themselves
I attended Michigan State University, obtaining my undergraduate degree in Political Philosophy in 1990. While there, I minored in Criminal Justice, which led to an internship and, ultimately, a career as an Intelligence Research Specialist for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). I worked at the DEA's headquarters in Washington, D.C., and regional field offices in San Francisco and Houston. I began attending the University of Houston Law Center in 1992 and received my Juris Doctorate in 1995.
After law school, I practiced in the area of civil litigation, eventually specializing in oil and gas trucking and oilfield injury litigation. After a tragic incident that left a dear friend of mine widowed at a young age, I felt strongly that I wanted to work directly with people who needed legal help and, as a result, changed my focus to family, estate planning, and probate law. In 2012, I started De Ford Law Firm because I wanted to help, serve, and support the people in my community.
My hope for this firm is that we can educate and empower our clients through joyful times, such as the birth or adoption of a child, difficult times in their lives, such as divorce or the incapacity or death of a loved one, and also to avoid difficulties in the future through proper planning in the areas of family law and estate planning. We aim to provide the best quality of service that allows our clients to feel more informed and in control of their future. In August 2023, we were voted Best Estate Planning & Probate Attorney by the readers of Living Magazine in The Woodlands. We were also voted Best of 2024 for Legal Firms here in The Woodlands by the Woodlands Online Community.
Outside the firm, I love spending time with my husband, two sons, Evan and Austin, and our three golden retrievers, which we take everywhere with us. We love all the opportunities that living in The Woodlands, Texas, offers us.
