I obtained my J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law, renowned for its focus on practical experience and social responsibility. The National Jurist recently selected Northeastern University School of Law as the nation’s best public interest law school. I hav a broad base of litigation experience including work with the United States Department of Justice’s Environmental Enforcement Section; Kohn, Kohn, & Colapinto’s “whistleblower” practice; and Jackson & Campbell’s real estate group.
In real estate matters, I represent creditors and debtors in bankruptcy, litigates contracts, and advises clients on tax compliance and estate planning. My background in the underpinnings of real estate transactions comes from my expertise underwriting title insurance policies on an array of real estate financing scenarios including defeasance, mezzanine, interest rate swap, and municipal bond financing, among others. As a title attorney I've written articles on 1031 exchanges and is a go-to person on transfer and recordation tax questions for many local attorneys and developers. Over a two-year period I've handled over a quarter billion dollars in consideration and issued over a half billion dollars in liability insurance.
In representing businesspeople and nonprofits, I aid clients in business formation and organization, regulatory and tax compliance, contracting, employment, and financing. Staying true to my public interest roots, I take on a variety of public interest matters in cases ranging from bed bugs to bankruptcies, and everything in between. I handle consumer protection actions, cases involving consumer protection, employment, Qui-Tam, immigration, students, and constitutional rights.
